Evelyn is 5!

Just writing "Evelyn is 5" seems so unreal. I can't believe I will soon have a child in school!

This has been an exciting past year for Evelyn. She has learned to do a lot and has really stepped up as a big sister. She told me this morning that for St. Patricks Day, Bryan and I could go on a date and she could babysit Christian and Hudson. She told me everything she would feed them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! (If it wasn't against the law, it would be so tempting) ;)
She loves to "babysit" every chance she gets.

Alittle about Evelyn:

Evelyn loves to be outside. She has never been a homebody and always has made her way to the front door even at such a young age. She loves her friends and constantly asks who she gets to play with today.

One thing that I love about Evelyn is how observant she is. It's hilarious to have her come home and asks me about all the conversations she overheard about that day at the park or pool! Haha! That girl knows way more gossip than I do!

She loves to do puzzles, which is something I've always loved to do, and so that has become our "thing"

She loves to help out by cleaning the dishes or sweeping the floor.

So willing to play "Mom and dad" with her younger brother, when she may not want to.

As a mom, the one thing I feel guilty most often is how high of expectations I place on Evelyn. Since she was born, I always anticipated the next milestone to come which has caused me to hold her at a standard that is probably to high for her.
I look at Christian now at his age and have realized that I expect so much less from him than I did Evelyn at that age. She is so patient with me though and has been so forgiving through it all.

My favorite time is when I tuck her in and she reaches up to always kiss me on the cheek! We definitely have our moments of stubbornness with each other (probably since we are most alike) but that one small moment where she expresses so much love to me, is the best thing as a mom!

What she's been up to:
-She can write her first and last name
-Is getting so good on her bike without training wheels
-still loves all her food "separated" She loves noodles, as long as there is no sauce. When she has chili piles, she separates all the toppings! ha!
-is getting really good at swimming
-still loves her oatmeal for breakfast and lunch
-is so excited for school. She has already made a paper chain for the weeks she has left (21 to be exact---eek! We have a long summer ahead of us!)
