Announcing....Hudson!

Hudson Read Williams
Feb 25th 2013
9lbs 3oz and 21 in long
The newest member of the family made his appearance on Feb 25th and we are in love! He is seriously the best baby around. He hardly ever cries EVEN when his siblings pounce on him......(which is also a bad thing since I never know when the kid is in trouble)
But we feel so blessed that he is here safe and sound and that everything went so well. Probably the best labor and delivery I've had so far.
So for keepsakes here is the birth story.......
Weeks leading up to my due date I told my doctor I didn't want to be induced, since I didn't have the best experience with child #2 and also for the fact that my due date landed on the last day of finals week and it would be best if this baby came late anyways.
Well, Feb 22nd came and I was still pregnant.......I went for my last doctors appt when the doctor wanted to do a non stress test to make sure I had enough fluid and everything looked fine etc. Everything looked great and I was even told that my child's head was huge and off the charts (that is something a mother who is about to go through extreme amounts of pain to birth this child NEVER wants to hear.....) He also told me that the baby was measuring at 9lbs 3oz. (It seems those weights are never very accurate so I just disregarded it as being true.....I was wrong)
Well, I was still barely dilated to a 1 and he was still floating high so we talked about induction dates since my baby was measuring big. I decided to schedule one for the 26th but when we found out the hospital was full that day, Monday, Feb 25th became the official D-day.
Sunday, after church we went over to my sister in law Kelsie's house where my mother in law was staying and dropped off the kids. They were so, so kind to watch my kids while we were at the hospital. On the way back from Mesa, late at night I learn from the hospital that they could be calling me that night to come in. I kind of panicked since I had been up since 4:30 that morning and was planning on getting SOME sleep that night....... but oh well, things are always unexpected with birth. So, sure enough, at 10:30pm we get the call to come in.
| the day before----Evelyn wanted to help me out by holding up the baby :) |
At midnight they started me on pitocin and I labored until 8am when the doctor came and broke my water. Still, I hadn't progressed that much and the baby was still floating high. By the time 10:30am came around I got the epidural.
For some reason the epidural doesn't really numb my right side which is the way it's been for all 3 births. It's the weirdest thing but it does make it convienent when I need to push.
Anyways, by the time 3:30pm came around I was at a 7 and he still hadn't dropped. I'm convinced I have a luxurious womb with cable, a couch and everything. This kid did not want to come out!!! Finally around 5pm I was at a 10 and started pushing. It took me a good solid hour of pushing for this little guy to arrive. Although he was huge, I only tore a little bit (which is much better than my other 2).
I can't express how blessed I felt that day to hold Hudson and to be in the presence of such a pure and perfect spirit. The child who I felt kick inside of me for months was finally in my arms and I could just hold and stare at him all day!
