cursed?

12:20 AM

I thought our road trip to Oregon was worth documentation, so here we go:

July 4th:
4:00pm leave Provo with Bryan, Evelyn, Christian and Dad Williams

5:15pm get pulled over (no ticket, just a funny story)

10:00pm the kids FINALLY fall asleep

11:45pm Bryan takes over the driver seat for his dad (once Dad Williams sat down in the passenger seat, he was snoring....no exaggeration. That's a sign that you should have taken over the wheel for him a long time before that)

July 5th
12:15am Bryan asks me to say a prayer since we forgot to in the beginning of our trip

12:30am car breaks down (ironic huh?) and we are stranded on the side of the freeway in the middle of
nowhere

12:45am Evelyn and Christian are now awake and Ev is jumping from seat to seat enjoying the freedom from her carseat

1:00am After giving the car a rest we try to start the car again, and NOTHING!

1:28am The car turns on and we coast down the hill

1:30am car breaks down again 28 miles outside Baker City OR

1:47am try to start up the car and nothing happens

2:03am After starting up the car so many times the battery has now completely died and we face the fact
that we will be sleeping in the car until the mechanic shop opens up.

3:10am After listening to trains go by for a whole hour and trying to wrestle Evelyn, Bryan and I give up and desperately search for a tow truck companies on his phone

4:15am Tow truck picks us up and drops us off a mechanic shop in Baker City

7:50am Shop opens and we are first ones in line to get our car fixed.

8am-12pm  Spend 4 hours in Baker City playing at their parks and visiting the library. (Favorite part of it all was attending story time at their small little library. This story time lady was crazy to say the least. She  told the kids about Mexico and rambled off on the best kind of beer that they had down there.)

12:45pm pick up the car and head home

5:30pm ARRIVE home and after a 24 hour car trip, Ashley made us the best dinner known to man kind. So worth the drive :)

Tender mercy of the trip: We broke down on July 5th and not on July 4th. Apparently the tow truck expenses would have been doubled on a holiday. Phew, we barely missed that one!

Funny(or not so funny) fact of the trip: This was the 3rd time my father in law had been towed in the last 5 days. He drove from Ohio to Utah to be here for Christian's baby blessing and on the way he broke down twice.

All in all, we are so glad we are safe but a tad bit exhausted!
