Christmas 2019

Since I'm behind on my blog, I had Evelyn and Christian organize my photos into albums to make writing a blog post easier. So when I pulled up my Christmas album I saw they named it AWESOME CHRISTMAS 2019. ha! I agree with them. This year was pretty awesome. It was a mixture of lazy, fun and exhausting few days!
This year we made treats to hand out to friends and ward members. We also picked a family from the ward to surprise them with a movie basket of popcorn, hot chocolate, cookies and 6 movie tickets to the theaters. It was the highlight of our Christmas eve door bell ditching the gift. It was hilarious to see Christian run it up all dressed in black and ducking as their windows were open and then sprinting back to the car. We waited a few minutes and realized they weren't coming to the door, so Christian went back again but 2nd time was the charm. I hope my kids enjoy the fun of giving as both of our parents did such a good job instilling that in us.
We also saw Frozen 2 in theaters on Christmas Eve. Even with tons of popcorn and candy, Ivan was not movie-age-ready and I spent most of the time walking the halls with him.
We came home that night and ate some appetizers for dinner. Instead of acting out the nativity this year, (as my kids get so crazy doing it) I had the idea of turning off the lights with a few candles glowing and putting our nativity set out on the table and each person picked a piece. Then we talked and read about the Christmas story in Luke 2 and when we got to their piece they would add it to the stable. It was quick but by far my most favorite moment that day! It was really sweet, hearing my kids talk about the importance of Jesus and then we sang some christmas songs before they went off to bed.

all set up. My favorite moment of the Christmas season would be to sit by the tree with all the lights off, house completely quiet and just ponder. It's hard to beat those moments!
Kids were up at 4:30am. They were great and waited until 7 to open presents. Longest hours of their (and our) life ;)
love to see how excited they were about their gifts!
