Halloween 2011

I can't believe I just sent my child out in a short sleeve dress for trick or treating. Growing up in Oregon, it's all about the layers! You are bundled up to the point where you couldn't even tell what costume you were wearing. It's throwing me for a loop to think that it was 90 degrees on Halloween and I'm still using my AC. I was recently telling Bryan that I can never remember what month we are in because I constantly feel like we are in summer. Instead of the change of weather informing me that Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost here, I had to have someone in the grocery store remind me. It really is a different world down here!
Nonetheless, we soaked in the sun and enjoyed our week long Halloween events.
It started out on Monday, Oct 24th when Bryan came home early from school and surprised Evelyn with 2 pumpkins to carve. She was ecstatic!
And then was the ward trunk or treat on Friday. Bryan and I aren't into dressing up but thankfully we had some good friends who saved us this year and let us borrow some cavemen costumes. And poor Christian was a pink pig. It was really the only costume I had for him and just figured he would forgive me later for it.
Then on Halloween, Midwestern University put on a huge party for the kids. There was trick-or-treating around each of the buildings on campus, then outside they had blow up slides, face painting, cookie decorating, games, crafts and lots of food. I tried to prep Evelyn on the whole trick-or-treating process beforehand like what we say before and after we get candy. And when the time came to trick-or treat she said it like this "Trick-or treat, I want candy"
So, not the most polite way but I guess it's her way of getting straight to the point.

I also had to take pictures of Christian in the pumpkin and had Bryan carve out holes for his legs. We underestimated his thunder thighs because when the time came to take him out he may or may-not-have been completely stuck. Let's just say he was screaming for a good 5 min. Poor guy!
