camping with the kids

10:13 PM

As a parent, I often find myself thinking "I can't believe MY parents did this 9 times" or "how did my parents manage to do this so well?"

I really found myself thinking about this when we took our kids camping for the first time this weekend. I thought camping as a kid was so blissful and fun but I totally underestimated the work that goes into it!

So kudos to my parents!

Bryan loves to camp and I'm a 'wish- I-loved-camping-just-as-much' type of person. But with Labor day weekend coming up, Bryan and a few of his buddies couldn't pass up the opportunity of organizing a camping trip to Cottonwood, which is close to Sedona.

Even though I felt like I was packing up our whole apt with bedding, clothes and kitchen items, it was still such a blast!! And the kids slept suprisingly well! Best of all, the weather was perfect!

The view was so beautiful!

Evelyn: "daddy, where do you turn on the fire?" She is definitely a generation X child

Christian could have jumped in the fire if we didn't stop him. He was all over it!

Foil dinners took a little longer than we thought(don't they always though ;)......but so delish!

not a complete camping trip unless he's dirty from head to toe

During the day on Saturday we went to Grasshopper Point in Sedona, which was absolutely beautiful, where the boys cliff jumped and the girls chatted! :)
