numero tres

It's once said that a picture can speak a thousand words. I think this is one that depicts Evelyn's hilarious personality perfectly. Let me explain.

The skirt on Evelyn's head is a proof that she only wears skirts or leggings, NO jeans. Sometimes she tries to leave the house with a shirt and pink see-through-tights. (This is when I intervene)
(Speaking of outfits this girl goes through more outfits than anyone I know. It's crazy. Deciding which outfit to wear has been a power struggle and I have given up. I now understand all the hideous pictures I have when I was younger. I always wondered why my mom didn't step in and now I know, she probably tried but I was too stubborn. )

This picture also proves that she is my free spirit child. She has no fear of meeting new people or freely going to the bathroom by a tree. She is my independent little diva!

All these things and more are what I love about my THREE year old birthday girl! Yep, today is her birthday and we are SO glad she joined our family!

Evelyn at three years:

  • Still working on saying her name. She has called herself I-yah for quite some time, which has stuck between Bryan and I. One night Bryan was praying with Evelyn and said, "We love I-yah".....when Evelyn interrupted and said, "No, it's E..yel..li, Oh never mind I can't say it, just say I-yah" It broke my heart that she knew she couldn't say her name correctly. She is such a sweet girl.
  • She calls Christian 'babe'.
  • She loves to go around and lock all the doors in our house. I have gotten in the habit of always keeping a quarter near by to get into any of our rooms.
  • Can't wait to ride the school bus! I once told her that she can't ride one until she is 5. So now she in convinced ON her 5th birthday she will ride a school bus.....hmmmm I just realized her 5th birthday will be on a weekend. Let's hope she forgets!
  • Evelyn makes sure everyone is always happy. One night, she kept sneaking out of her room telling me she had to go to the bathroom when I knew she didn't. My patience was very thin and I told Evelyn to hurry and go. Two min later, I walk into my bedroom and find she had dumped out a whole bag of chips Bryan left on our bed. I kind of lost it and told her I was not happy. She quickly helped me pick it up and the whole time she kept asking, "are you happy now, are you happy now?" How could I be still so frustrated after all that?
She loves to cook
Dishing up her favorite breakfast, oatmeal. This girl could have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner

  • Evelyn asks why to everything! It was cute the first day but now it's been frustrating because sometimes you can't explain EVERYTHING! One night after dinner, Bryan was going back to school and this was his conversation with Evelyn
E: Why do you have to go back?
B: to study
E: But why?
B: to get a good grade.
E: why?
B: So I can get a job one day
E: Why?
B: (getting a little annoyed finally replied) So I can buy you a car when you are 16
E: oh ok!
So now, every time he gets home, she asks where her car is. Good job Bryan!
  • After picking 2 bags of lemons at an orchard near Bryan's school, I asked Evelyn what we were going to do with all of these lemons and she quickly replied "make apple juice!"

She is my beautiful little girl!
WE LOVE YOU EVELYN!!
