sleep!

4:23 PM

I think it's in the Lewis genes to block out all baby cries in the night. After talking to my siblings and in- laws I realize this is very true. Even with all doors open, Bryan is always the one to hear Evelyn and he is so great to bring her to me so I can feed her. But I'm usually so dead in my sleep that most nights the conversations end up like this.

B: Meredith, Evelyn is hungry
M: (angry tone)What do you think you are doing? Why did you get her?
B: She is awake and hungry
M: (frustrated tone)Well, What do you want me to do about it?

As you can see, I'm not so nice when I'm woken up.
So we have been talking awhile of quitting the night feeding but 1)I don't have a heart to go through that. Just look at her. Why would I put her through that?

2) I was really worried that our neighbors would hate us after a week of straight crying through the night. So I kept putting it off hoping she would just naturally sleep through the night. Well, of course it wasn't working so last week we decided just to do it. We closed both doors and turned on the fan.

Day 1: We woke up at 7am and realized we didn't hear anything. We weren't even sure if she woke up and cried. But I didn't dare ask our neighbors! :)
Day 2 Same as Day 1
Day3: Same as Day 1&2

I was kind of frustrated because I wasn't sure if she was actually waking up and crying (which would be a good thing because then she would start getting in the routine)

So on Day 5 we left doors open and sure enough our daughter slept for a full 12 hours. Is she finally learning to sleep through the night?

HELLO FULL NIGHTS SLEEP!! It's been awhile but I sure did miss you!
